Chonbuk National University Hospital is conducting a customized integrated support program through one-on-one counseling and online education for cancer survivors suffering from COVID-19 infection.

Even after cancer diagnosis and treatment, cancer survivors still complain of various physical distress such as pain, fatigue, lymphedema, numbness in hands and feet, and economic or re-employment difficulties due to unemployment.

In particular, the prevalence of depression is about four times higher than that of the general population, such as experiencing fear, anxiety, depression, and insomnia due to relapse or metastasis after treatment.

This year, as the social distancing from Corona 19 is prolonged, the depression of cancer survivors is becoming more serious.

Accordingly, the Jeonbuk Regional Cancer Survivor Support Center can participate in real-time education at home without worrying about virus infection through video education such as nutritional diet management, insomnia management, and relaxation therapy for cancer survivors feeling emotional distress such as anxiety and depression from Corona 19. We are running a customized integrated support program for 1:1 individual psychological counseling.

Educational videos containing cancer survivors' nutrition, diet and exercise are distributed so that cancer survivors can conveniently use educational contents.

In addition, it provides a variety of services, such as operating a clinic where you can receive treatment and counseling with a cancer specialist in the center and providing social welfare counseling.

Eun-ki Song (Professor) of the Center for Cancer Survivors in the Jeonbuk Area said, "We are making efforts to improve the quality of life by providing services and evaluating various problems experienced by cancer survivors, reducing the physical and mental problems and social and economic burdens of the family. "We hope that we can wisely overcome the situation of Corona 19 by participating in customized programs such as education and counseling provided by the center."
