신축년 새해가 밝았습니다.

 

시민 여러분, 새해 복 많이 받으시고 바라는 일 모두 성취하는 한 해 되시길 소망합니다.

 

신축은 흰 소를 말하며 신성한 기운을 의미한다고 합니다.

 

그 기운으로 정읍시는 우직하게 앞만 보며 '더불어 행복한, 더 좋은 정읍' 만들기에 총력을 다하겠습니다.

 

지난해는 코로나19가 우리의 모든 것을 삼켜버린 한 해였습니다.

 

당연했던 일상을 빼앗겨 버렸고 살림살이가 힘들어졌으며 마스크 착용으로 숨쉬기조차 답답하기만 했습니다.

 

그러나, 우리는 잘 극복해내고 있습니다.

 

살인적인 업무량을 감내하며 방역 최전선을 지켜내고 있는 의료진ㆍ쪽잠을 자며 시민들의 삶의 현장을 돌본 공무원ㆍ집단격리자들을 위해 새벽부터 도시락을 싸준 자원봉사자 등 그들이 있었기에 어려운 시기를 잘 견뎌낼 수 있었습니다.

 

존경하는 시민 여러분!

 

정읍시는 신축년 새해의 사자성어를 '유지경성(有志竟成)'으로 정했습니다.

 

유지경성은 올바른 뜻을 가지고 꾸준히 노력한다면 반드시 성공한다는 의미를 담고 있습니다.

 

이 사자성어는 '정향누리 향기공화국 정읍'의 원년으로 삼아 시민의 행복과 정읍의 발전을 위해 거시적 안목으로 올바른 뜻과 굳센 마음으로 나아가겠다는 정읍시의 결연한 의지를 밝힌 것입니다.
