National Pension Service 'Payment exception until June' extension

Eligible for pension premiums for February-June… Exemption from collection of arrears, etc.

Reporter Kim Hyun-jong

The National Pension Service's 'Pension Insurance Premium Payment Exception' and'Arrears Collection Exception' measures, which are temporarily enforced for three months, will be extended until June.

On the 26th, the National Pension Service said, "In order to relieve the burden of national pension subscribers due to the re-proliferation of Corona 19, we are applying burden relief measures only to insurance premiums for January-March for subscribers whose income has decreased since January, but extended it by 3 months I decided to do it," he said.

You can apply for the payment exception system when there is no income, such as business interruption or leave of work, but you can apply for a payment exception for up to 5 months (February to June 2021) even if your income has decreased due to temporary measures due to COVID-19.

In addition, even if the premium is not paid as an exception to the collection of pension premiums, arrears can be exempted without a separate application.

The overdue collection exception is a system that does not collect arrears due to non-payment of pension insurance premiums due to an accident, etc. I plan to do it.

Eligible for pension premiums from February to June of this year, and the deadline for application is the 15th of the month following the month.

Those who have already applied for the pension premium payment exception this year can extend the payment exception period until June if they additionally apply.

If the employer has decreased income and the worker agrees, the employer can apply for it by visiting the branch of the National Pension Service or by fax or mail.

Local subscribers are exempted from payment if they apply for a reduced income.

In addition, if you want to pay a lower premium due to a decrease in your income, you can pay a lower premium by changing the monthly base income (available when a change of 20% or more) instead of the payment exception.

However, because the payment exception period is not recognized as a subscription period, the amount of pension received in retirement may be reduced. You can apply for payment at a later date.

For other details, please contact the National Pension Service call center or branch offices across the country for guidance.

Kim Yong-jin, chairman of the National Pension Service, said, "We will do our best to promote this extra 3 months to help small businesses suffering from business difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 outbreak."
