In order to systematically preserve and utilize the 'Gochang Tidal Flat', which is registered as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage, a T/F team was established under the jurisdiction of the Cultural Heritage Tourism Division of Gochang-gun, Jeollabuk-do.

Gochang-gun said, "On July 31, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee registered four tidal flats in five local governments, including Gochang, Seocheon, Sinan, Boseong, and Suncheon, as World Natural Heritage sites." We will organize and operate the 'World Natural Heritage T/F Team' to manage and promote various projects."

The newly established 'World Natural Heritage T/F Team' plays the role of general management of the use of the World Heritage by reinforcing the protection management system in line with the international level.

First, we plan to prepare a roadmap for the conservation and management of tidal flats in Gochang, conduct monitoring and academic research for heritage conservation, utilize the World Heritage brand, and promote various projects for tidal flat conservation such as heritage tourism and establishment of a regional management center.

In particular, the Gochang Tidal Flat, an area with the highest level of biodiversity in Korea, is the largest wintering site for storks, an endangered species designated by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Investigation and restoration are systematically promoted.

In addition, in order to preserve the unique functions and values of tidal flats, consultations with related organizations are conducted.

Gochang-gun Na Cheol-ju, head of the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Division, said, "The 'World Natural Heritage T/F Team' will be a compass for preserving the ecological excellence and value of the world-recognized Gochang tidal flats and suggesting policy directions for sustainable use." It is a treasure trove of resources from which abundant aquatic products are produced, and is of great value as a habitat with the highest level of biodiversity in the world."

"We will do our best for systematic management for sustainable conservation and utilization," he added.

Meanwhile, Korea's tidal flats are the second World Natural Heritage in 14 years after 'Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes' registered in 2007. done.

'Gochang Tidal Flat' is a tidal flat with tidal flats and islands distributed along the steep rocky coast due to its topographical and geological properties.

It was also recognized for its topographical and geological significance, and the value of a biodiversity conservation habitat such as a migratory bird landing site, where Chenier (a hill made of sand or shells along the coast) was formed.
