Eugene Solar Co. Ltd. a solar power generation company, will establish a floating solar power buoyancy production plant in the Renewable Energy Industrial Complex in Buan, Jeollabuk-do.

On the 22nd, Jeonbuk Provincial Government Deputy Governor Shin Won-sik and Buan-gun Mayor Kwon Ik-hyeon and Eugene Solar Co., Ltd. CEO Kim Gwang-seok invested 4.5 billion won with the goal of starting construction in May 2022 at the Buan New Renewable Energy Complex Convention Center and built a floating solar power buoyancy production plant on a 12,716site in the industrial complex. An investment agreement was signed with the aim of the construction.

According to the agreement, Jeollabuk-do and Buan-gun will actively cooperate with administrative and financial support and various licenses and permits to facilitate corporate investment.

Eugene Solar Co., Ltd. plans to start construction of a plant in May next year to respond in a timely manner to the expected increase in demand for solar power-related businesses, and to achieve sales of 15 billion won by producing buoyancy bodies for the construction of 25MW power generation capacity.

In addition, it is expected that the sales scale will be much larger than this due to the expansion of investment and production increase in accordance with the market expansion every year.

Currently, three research institutes are located in the new and renewable energy industrial complex: 'Chonbuk National University's New and Renewable Energy Material Development Support Center' in the solar power sector, 'Korea Institute of Materials Science' in the wind power sector, and 'Korea Institute of Energy Technology' in the fuel cell sector. As large-scale land and floating solar power projects are being built, Eugene Solar's supply of buoyancy bodies can be expanded.

Buan-gun and Jeollabuk-do expect that if Eugene Solar's investment is completed successfully, at least 15 to 20 new jobs will be created, contributing to resolving the local unemployment crisis.

Shin Won-sik, deputy governor of Jeollabuk-do Province, said, "I am very pleased to be able to attract solar-related companies after signing investment agreements and sales contracts with two companies in July." As it is expected to contribute to the revitalization of the energy industrial complex, we will actively support it so that it can contribute to smooth business activities and vitalization of the local economy."
