Jeollabuk-do Sunchang-gun installed a 20-meter-long painting tile in the Hyangga Tunnel, where historical traces of the Japanese occupation of rice remain.

Painting tiles, which are transforming into a new cultural space, started when they made and installed 200 pieces of artwork left by children through painting contests during the 2018 Hyangga Fall Festival and the 12th Sunchang Soybean Festival.

In particular, LED lighting facilities, sculptures, and skywalks were installed in the 'dream seat' space in the Hyangga Tunnel by increasing the number of picture tiles by 20m every year.

The tiles newly made and installed this year are engraved with pictures left by tourists who visited the unmanned workshop.

The unmanned workshop was built at the entrance of the Hyangga Tunnel in August, and drawing paper and art tools are arranged so that you can freely capture Sunchang's major tourist attractions and places that impressed you at any time.

An official from the Sunchang-gun Culture and Tourism Division said, "We plan to complete the dream seat by making tiles every year with drawings left by outside tourists and citizens in unmanned workshops and event halls. We will do our best to make it happen,” he said.

Meanwhile, at the end of the Japanese colonial period, the Hyangga Tunnel was built with a 384-meter-long tunnel through Okchulsan Mountain, Pungsan-myeon, Sunchang-gun, in order to build a railroad linking Namwon to Gwangju in order to seize rice produced in Sunchang, Namwon, and Damyang in Jeollanam-do.
