Contemporary Dance Company 'Sappho'2022 Second Space Exploration

At 4 p.m. on the 15th at 'Youngmojae, Jinsan-dong, Jeongeup, Modern Cultural Heritage No. 213'

Reporter Lee Yong-chan

Hwasuk Kim & Contemporary Dance Company 'Sappo''s 2022 second space exploration project will be held on the 15th at Yeongmojae, Jinsan-dong, Jeongeup, Jeollabuk-do, a modern cultural heritage number 213.

On this day, Yeongmojae takes place under the theme of 'Maybe that place will be forgotten', which explores cultural historical values and spatial meanings.

Through this 'Space Exploration' project, Sappho plans to unravel the life and sufferings of the prostitutes and musicians who were raised in Yeongmojae in the past and reborn as jaein and musicians, and the revolutionary army of the Donghak Jaein unit through her gestures.

To that end, the prologue starts with 'without a beginning', as if it means that there is nothing new again, and ends with 'the lost memory, ask the wind, there is not, there is no end'.

Sapo's first space exploration project dates back to the outdoor space of 'Lighthouse in the Mountain' in Haewol-ri, Wanju-gun, in 2020.

Sappho's creative dance premiere at the 'Lighthouse in the Mountains', where an abandoned paper mill that had been left in ruins was reborn as a family-oriented complex to illuminate culture and art in 2019, was enough to convey a special meaning.

Since then, he has performed an encore performance with 'Beyond Memory_Haewolli 362', an upgraded space exploration project.

The modern dance company 'Sappo', which has been performing through 'Sappo, Talk to You Series(1-11)' since 2012, is also not a professional performance venue, but presents works suitable for spaces such as cafes, art galleries, government offices, ward offices or temples in the city. However, things were not going well due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Accordingly, since 2020, it has been conducting a group dance as a space exploration project to find a new cultural space.

The second space exploration project of Sapo, which started in this way, has been abandoned in ruins, but in Modern Cultural Heritage No. 213 'Jeongeup Jinsan-dong Yeongmojae', which was created as a new cultural space by someone, through the time of unraveling fragments of memories through dance, the audience I am looking forward to igniting the light in my heart.

Yeongmojae, Jinsan-dong, Jeongeup, was the only place where you can see the original form of a Pungryubang in the 18th and 19th centuries as a place where the Cheoncheon Station was located nearby until the end of the Joseon Dynasty, and where shamans, courtesans, and musicians were raised.

Since the 1970s, the custodians left and it was left in de facto ruins, but in November 2005, it was designated as Modern Cultural Heritage No.

In addition, Jeongeup Mayor Yoo Jin-seop in the 7th popular election, Jeong Sang-seop(Chosan, Sigi, Sanggyo-dong), and then Jeongeup City Council member Sang-seop Sang (Chosan, Sigi, Sanggyo-dong), and Rep. It has been transformed into a more comfortable environment than ever before.

On the other hand, Yeongmojae(永慕齋) in Jinsan-dong, Jeongeup is a space where you can actually check all the paintings on the walls appearing in the Pansori editorial, that is, the kibang that Mongryong Lee, who appears in the pansori 'Chunhyangga', went to meet Seongchunhyang.

On the walls of Yeongmojae, Jeongeup, the inner and outer walls of the main building, there are practical paintings and folk paintings such as Mokdan, Amsu Phoenix, Hyeonmu, Haetae, Eohaedo, and Jade Rabbit, as well as the appearance of male and female gods riding on cranes and the musicians appearing in Goguryeo tomb murals. it's done

In addition, the lotus flowers of the lotus gate are supported by sliding pillars on all sides of the main building, so the true meaning of 'harmony and coexistence' of Donghak, which declared that the class system was abolished after the Donghak Peasant Revolution in the 19th century, and that 'people are heaven (human beings)' The only glimpse.
