지난 15일 개막공연 '상생과 회복'을 시작으로 열흘간의 소리 여정에 돌입한 '2023 전주세계소리축제'가 중반을 넘어서고 있는 가운데 다채로운 공연이 관객과 만남을 기다리고 있다.

 

특히 한국-캐나다 수교 60주년 특별사업 일환으로 마련된 세 번째 판소리 프로젝트 '리오리엔트(re:Orient)'와 '호우지시절(동아시아 문화도시)'은 중동과 페르시아 음악ㆍ한국의 판소리ㆍ동서양 이 두 개의 오리엔트가 만나 서로의 음악적 시너지를 발휘하며 새로운 소리를 탄생시킨다.

 

이번 무대를 통해 천 년 이상의 긴 시간 동안 가깝게 공유한 한국ㆍ중국ㆍ일본 등 3국의 전통음악이 지닌 고유성과 동질성의 조화를 통해 서로 다른 아시아 속의 다양한 음악과 예술적 만남을 느낄 수 있다.

 

프로젝트는 전 세계 다양한 음악인과의 지속적인 콜라보 작업을 이어온 페르시안 세타르 명인 키야 타바시안(Kiya Tabassian)의 한국 전통음악에 대한 관심과 애정으로 시작됐다.

 

'호우지시절(好雨知時節ㆍ동아시아 문화도시)'은 2023 동아시아문화도시 전주 사업과 연계해 진행하는 공연으로 지역음악인들에게 국제교류의 기회를 제공한다는데 의미가 담겼다.

 

청두 출신으로서 중국의 시성(詩聖)으로 불리우는 두보의 시 '춘야희우(春夜喜雨)'의 첫 구절 '반가운 비가 시절을 안다(好雨知時節)'에서 영감을 받아 기획된 공연이다.
