바이오산업 육성에 공을 들이고 있는 전북도가 국내 최고 수준의 동물용 의약품 생산기지로 발돋움할 수 있는 모멘텀 구축에 신호탄을 쏘아 올렸다.

 

전북특별자치도는 16일 청사 4층 회의실에서 국립 연구기관인 국립축산과학원과 국가 첨단전략 기술 인증을 받은 기업인 오가노이드사이언스㈜와 특화단지 유치와 바이오산업 육성 협력을 골자로 업무협약을 체결했다.

 

협약식에는 김관영 도지사와 임기순 국립축산과학원장ㆍ오가노이드사이언스㈜ 유종만 대표 등이 참석했다.

 

이날 협약에 따라, 세 기관은 ▲ 바이오 특화단지 활성화를 위한 공동사업 발굴 및 연계협력 ▲ 바이오 분야 R&D 과제 발굴 및 추진 ▲ 동물 유래 오가노이드 뱅크 구축 협력 및 이를 기반한 반려동물 치료제 등 플랫폼 구축 협력 ▲ 지역 소재ㆍ장비 인프라 공유 및 협력 등을 추진한다.

김관영 지사는 "이번 협약을 통해 동물용 의약품 시장을 바탕으로 인체를 위한 첨단바이오 의약품 시장으로 확대 발전시키는 등 바이오 특화단지 지정이 더해진다면 오가노이드 기반의 바이오 생태계 구축을 통해 생명경제도시 전환을 가속화 시킬 수 있을 것으로 기대한다"고 말했다.

 

국립축산과학원은 생명공학 기술을 축산에 접목, 바이오신약 및 바이오 장기 연구 등을 통해 미래 성장산업으로 육성하고 있는 연구기관이다.
