전북특별자치도 최초 개발행위 민간특례사업 결과물이 도심 한가운데를 가로지르는 거대한 도시공원으로 위용을 드러냈다.

 

'마동공원'은 주민 누구나 쉽게 접근 가능한 1.5km 길이의 산책길을 중심으로 시원한 물을 내뿜는 벽천 인공폭포와 전통 건축양식을 활용해 건립된 쉼터ㆍ커뮤니티센터ㆍ야외무대ㆍ전용 주차장 등으로 꾸며졌다.

 

특히 가족 휴식 공간 역할을 할 수 있도록 미끄럼틀과 그물 놀이터 등 어린이들이 연령별로 신나게 뛰어놀 수 있는 놀이공간과 바닥분수 등 공원 전체를 일종의 '도시 숲'으로 조성하기 위해 건강한 수목과 초화류가 식재됐다.
