이차전지 핵심 소재 기업 2곳이 새만금지구 국가산업단지에 둥지를 틀기 위해 투자협약 체결했다.

 

전북도 김종훈 정무부지사와 김규현 새만금개발청장ㆍ군산시 황철호 부시장 및 새만금산업단지 조현찬 사업단장을 비롯 ㈜이엔드디 김민용 대표이사ㆍ ㈜테이팩스 김상구 대표이사 등은 30일 군산 라마다호텔 2층 갈라홀에서 투자협약을 맺고 손에 손을 맞잡았다.

 

이 자리에서 김종훈 정무부지사는 "대한민국의 이차전지 산업이 세계 한가운데 우뚝 서는 등 새만금 산단이 매력적인 투자처로 인식될 수 있도록 최선을 다해 지원하고 협력해 나가겠다"고 약속했다.

 

김규현 새만금개발청장은 "전기차 시장의 급속한 성장과 맞물려 이차전지 핵심 소재에 대한 수요 역시 기하급수적으로 늘어나고 있다"며 "이차전지 산업생태계가 활발하게 구축되고 있는 새만금에서 기업이 뜻하는 목표를 달성할 수 있도록 아낌없이 지원 하겠다"고 밝혔다.

충북 청주시에 본사 및 1ㆍ2공장을 두고 있는 ㈜이엔드디는 이차전지 수요 증가에 대응할 수 있도록 생산체계를 확대하기 위해 새만금 산단(1공구) 148천㎡ 용지에 1,035억원을 투자해 연내 연간 2만톤 생산 규모의 이차전지 양극활 물질 제조에 사용되는 일차 원료로, 양극재 성능을 결정하는 핵심 소재 물질인 전구체 공장을 완공해 직원 45명을 채용할 계획이다.

 

특히 새만금에 제3공장 건설을 결정한 ㈜이엔드디가 본격적으로 공장을 가동하면 중국 의존도가 높은 전구체 등 배터리 핵심소재 국내 공급망 안정화에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
