세계태권도연맹(WT)이 올림픽 출전 기회 확대 및 신인선수 발굴 등 태권도 대중화를 위해 2021년 신설한 '그랑프리 챌린지 국제대회'는 대한태권도협회(KTA)와 태권도진흥재단(TPF)이 공동 주관하고 문화체육관광부ㆍ국민체육진흥공단ㆍ전라북도ㆍ무주군이 후원하고 있다.

지난 15일 개막식을 겸한 환영 만찬에는 조정원 세계태권도연맹 총재ㆍ이종갑 태권도진흥재단 이사장 직무대행ㆍ양진방 대한태권도협회장ㆍ김관영 전북도지사ㆍ황인홍 무주군수를 비롯 각국 주한대사ㆍ문체부ㆍ태권도계 관계자 및 19개국 선수와 지도자ㆍ심판 등 200명 등이 참석해 대회 열기가 후끈 달아올랐다.
