지난 4월 진안군 주천면 인근 폐가에서 구조된 천연기념물 제328호 '하늘다람쥐'가 자연으로 복귀했다.

전북도 야생동물구조관리센터는 30일 진안군 주천면 주양리에서 하늘다람쥐 자연 복귀 행사를 가졌다.

천연기념물 제328호로 지정된 '하늘다람쥐'는 청설모과 포유류로 환경부 멸종위기종(種) 야생생물 Ⅱ급으로 지정돼 있다.

오래된 숲속에서 나무구멍을 보금자리 삼아 제주를 제외한 전국 산악지대에 서식하는 야행성 동물이다.

이번에 자연의 품으로 돌아간 하늘다람쥐는 구조 당시 갓 태어나 눈도 제대로 뜨지 못한 상태였으나 야생동물구조관리센터의 돌봄으로 건강을 회복했다.

도 야생동물구조관리센터는 2006년 전북대와 협무협약을 체결한 이후 2009년 4월 개소했으며 현재까지 부상당한 야생동물 11,318마리를 구조ㆍ치료해 4,163마리를 자연으로 돌려보냈다.
