세계지질공원 인증을 추진하는 '전북 서해안권 국가지질공원'에 대한 유네스코 현장평가가 고창과 부안에서 오는 30일부터 10월 4일까지 진행된다.

 

전북 부안군은 "유네스코 세계지질공원 현장평가위원과 전문자문위원 등이 오는 10월 2일부터 3일까지 1박 2일간의 일정으로 방문해 지질명소 가치와 탐방기반시설을 점검할 예정"이라고 28일 밝혔다.

 

이번 현장평가는 말레이시아 '이브라힘 꼬무'평가위원과 폴란드 '월로신 자고다' 평가위원과 전문 자문위원 및 관계자 30여명이 ▲ 채석강 ▲ 적벽강 ▲ 위도 대월습곡 및 공룡알 화석지 등 지질명소 가치와 탐방기반시설 확인 및 지오파트너ㆍ지오빌리지 현장 확인 위주로 진행될 예정이다.

 

전북 서해안권 지질명소의 세계지질공원 인증 여부는 2023년 4월 유네스코 파리 총회에서 결정될 예정이다.

 

제27차 환경부 지질공원위원회에서 신규 탐방ㆍ체험 프로그램 개발 및 운영과 지질 보전 노력 등이 높은 평가를 받아 전북 서해안권 국가지질공원(520.3㎢)의 재인증이 확정됐다.
